Chev blitz/cmp diff ratios

Can anyone please tell me if the smaller blitz/cmps (with the 16" wheels) had a taller diff ration than the bigger ones? I'm thinking of putting 20" on my C15A but not sure if the gearing will be too high - I want to use it for timber snigging and carting in steep country amongst other things

Diff ratios; C-8A 6.16 to 1, C-15 6.16 to 1, C-15A 6.5 to 1, C-30 7.16 to 1, C-60S 7.16 to 1, C-60L 7.16 to 1, C-GT 7.16 to 1.

Thanks a lot that's great. Not such a good plan then that's a fair jump

snigging

If your hills are like some of ours run the 3ton diff centre with 16" wheels, gears them right down for the single speed transfer case. remember if useing the winch to snig ,keep the rope short and not fixed to the drum. Don,t let the log take the truck with it.

Well I don't have a winch, I'd love one though and am keeping my eye open for one. I've also fitted a two speed transfer case, but if I found either 60 or 30cwt diffs I'd fit them for sure...

Hi Harry,
I have a C15A with winch, two speed trany and 20” wheels and have never used 1st gear to take off on the road. I’m sure the C15A diff ratio is the best option. What part of Aust are you from as I have spare winches in stock.

wow, and you have the original diffs? Maybe it's OK then. What about towing or climbing hills? I guess I've got low range but it's good to have L1 as low as possible IMO
