Identification of Vehicle
1 Attachment(s)
This is the first time on this forum for me, so please forgive me if I am not in the right place to ask.
We are a NSW Rural Fire Service located at Hill End NSW Australia. We have got back our original tanker and think it may be the one listed below. Ford Canada, Canadian Military Pattern Vehicle, and Model F60S 30cwt 4 x 4 with a type 13 cabin manufactured in 1942. I have attached an image. Can someone please confirm if we are right or not? Thanks Jim |
you are correct if it has a wheelbase of 134 inches BUT WHAT"S under that non original engine extention sticking out the front? :)

Identification of Vehicle
Thanks Cliff.
They tell me the original engine died, the only one available was from an International, so they made some modifictaions to the bonnet to get it back firefighting again. I will check the wheelbase size. Are there parts available anywhere in Australia? Thanks Jim Shanahan |
An F60S is 60 cwt. That's what the 60 stands for.

Ugly with that extension!
The nomenclature is something like a "Truck, 400 gall Tanker Aust", based on a F60S (not 30) chassis, and the cab is 1944-45 type not '42.
Mike Cecil will be able to give us the exact designation. |
We measured the wheelbase and it is 134 inches, so does that confirm it is as below stated, or is the year wrong?

It'll be either an F60S or an F30. It can't be both.
