Two "new" CMP's at a local wrecker's
5 Attachment(s)
These two CMP's recently showed up at a scrap metal / auto wreckers establishment in Whitby, Ontario. They appear solid and mostly complete. I spoke to another MLU'er about them and he's tried over the years to purchase other items from the owner at a reasonable price without any luck. There are a lot of other interesting vehicles (deuce and a half, fire trucks, etc.) but they seem to sit and rot and rot... Bloody shame.

As any one noticed.......?
The Ford with the snow plow......
.....inside cab photo..... ................. strange looking V8 in there.....? Comments ......? Bob C. |
I notice it also has a chev grill but not the right vintage for a chev engine
unless it is out of a staghound |
Another one - Ford this time

My spidey sense was tingling so followed it to the local wrecking yard. I haven't spoken to the boss but if history is any indication, he's going to sit on it for a long time. It's just the business end of the truck but the flathead is still in there and it looks complete.

The snow is melting so I'll go take a closer look if there's interest.

Hi Bob
Yes and yes.;) Barry |
Hummmmmm..... MAD MAX
U could have at least banged up the sheet metal and hidden the wheels.
CHEERS |

Chev Blitz. It looks like a later Chev Blue Flame engine with a Rochester carby. The bigger one is also a Chev. What made you think it was a Ford,Stew? Regards Rick. |
Rick if you blow the pictures up to 250% the steering box looks like ford, the horn is in the ford location, the piece of engine cover that the gear stick is passing through looks like ford and the clips that locate the dog house on the vertical strut from floor to dash are bolted on like ford, Chevs were spot welded.

Inside of cab....
...It has a Ford engine cover...... or maybe a Ford cab on a Chev chassis??
|
Ford
Definitely a Ford.

Those first two trucks came from Kerr Industries in Oshawa. They both came from the GM factory during the war and never saw military service. Brian Gough and I did a little research on them many moons ago. I think I first started my quest to buy them in the late 60's. Over the years I sold them a lot of parts to keep them going and of course Kerr did many mods to keep from having to buy parts from me. Brian has a better memory than I so perhaps he can add more.
Kerr Industries was a fleet contractor for GM and outfitted all the GM police cruisers, telephone, postal, hydro etc. fleets. The Canadian CUCV's all went through Kerr. It was fun driving past there and seeing that sea of green Chevy trucks. I maintained a truck fleet for Canadian National Railways and a couple of construction companies so Kerr was the "go to" place for u joints, PTO and winch parts. Barry |
"They both came FROM the GM factory during the war"
Just to clarify this I did say FROM GM, not that they were GM assembled. Barry |
