convoy marker

I recently acquired a MK I carrier for parts. Inside were some MKI and MKII parts. There was a white disc with 2 bolt holes and it was bolted to a metal strap about 16" long. The strap had a hole in each end as if it were wrapped around something.I am wondering how these discs were mounted to the rear of the carrier?Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,Dave

. . . or convoy disk ... show here with the lamp and lamp mount. The top opening is fitted to a threaded stud welded ( alright then, countersunk bolt attached, but not for long, get the MIG welder ready) to the muffler bracket. Most common set-up found on the MKI* and MKII*.

There may be different systems found below the large stowage box on the back of some NO-2 MKII* Carriers when assorted towing hitch assemblies are used.

On my carrier the threaded stud was actualy a counter sunk machin screw that passed through the metal band holding the muffler in place. I'm sure there were some production changes. The one end of the metal strip that bolts to the disk bolts onto the exhaust pipe guard. There should be 2 1/4" holes on the end of the strip. They match up to two holes or threaded studs on the exhaust pipe guard.

Interesting replies! My disc was held to the metal band with a countersunk bolt. The band looks like it may be long enough to go around the muffler.

Jordan, I went to my carrier and found the strap that goes from the ex. guard to the disc. Thanks for the replies. Dave
