New vs old

Had to share this lovely example of the new in contest with the old... which must weigh considerably more of course. Not a CMP in sight either (sadly).

It's amazing what power a bit of heated water has

Just wearing out his tyres for no reason

Weight, traction, and horsepower ..... :coffee

That is a classic

Hi Keith

That has got to be one of the best tractor pull video I have ever seen. Wonder what the two tractors were rated at in horsepower? Clearly shows though that draw bar pull is only as good as how much power you can transmit to the ground.

More like weight and gearing as the steam engine itself would be in the 6 to 10 Hp range.

Now I see why those wonderful beasties were referred to as 'Traction Engines'. There is an annual Thresherman's Reunion somewhere here in Manitoba where they fire up a few of those old girls and show everyone what they can still do.

There is a move the Iron Maiden 1962 that is all about old steam traction engines that I like http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie/the-iron-maiden/
