Battery Tray for a MK II Universal carrier
Hi guys ,I am looking for a battery tray for a MK II Universal carrier. I have a MK I tray for trade.
Thanks,Dave |
What condition is the mk1 tray in ?
|
Richard, I have not removed it yet, but I can tell the legs that bolt to the floor are rusted but I will know how bad very soon. Other than that,it looks pretty good. I will post pics when I get it out. The hold down rods are there as well as the sliding angle that adjusts to battery size.

So, as a matter of interest what is the difference between the two, aside from where they are installed, and the legs.
Is the actual tray the same? Are the lid bolts in a different place, or different lengths? |
If you have a parts manual, check figs. #45 and #46.

Here are pics of the battery tray.I hope this works.I have never attached pics before. As you can see, one of the legs is rusted half way through, and pitting on the back side where it fastens to the div. plate.

Those images posted fine. Your MKI* tray looks good enough to have come off the JD in the background. Just needs some two-tone green and yellow paint.
Dave, could you simply strip off the unwanted bits, trim the tray to length, fill in the remaining slider openings? Reproduce a MKII* forward leg and rear support to match the original version? Reverse the hold down rods and good to go! It would save Richie paying the postage to the UK. ;) |
Any Fabricator should be able to make you one of thoes to pattern mate. Nothing complicated on that. :thup2:

Making one up is likely the best way to go. Thanks guys.
