Gents,

Is anyone looking for a NOS CAV switchboard for a universal carrier, I have one available, please p.m. me. Also have a dash board for a British Mk1 carrier.

Kevin.

Kevin, Your switch board is a post war item, not correct for a U.C.

Very few differences Lynn. This type was fitted in many WW2 vehicles and some later on. The red lens and light switch lever are the only glaring differences and if you have an original unit they can be swapped over. Try finding an original, unless you Kiwis are hiding them away!

Richard, I did a search to find out when they were first used. By chance I found the Ebay listing (#281146794066) It is the exact same photo as Kevin's listing. It states "1952" Not exactly U.C. NOS, in my opinion.
My main concern is that a new guy getting into carriers, might be tricked into buying, thinking it is period correct. (and yes it will fit the hole)
If it was my listing, I would have made it clear.
That's how I see it.

A picture of each of the war time (British and Canadian) switches enclosed (L.H. pic is Canadian)

Lynn, The one I had for sale is now sold was the original type, I didn't have a pick of it to use so found one on the net, to be honest I never noticed the differences, thanks for pointing them out, like Richard said a later type one with a swapped light and switch would be the same and most importantly the internals would be new. I have a couple of rusted switch boxes with good old style switches and lights so might buy a couple of those listed to upgrade to original spec, can I have them posted to you lynn if you are send stuff this way to the uk in the next 12 months?.

Lynn,
The mention of "1952" would be the packing date on the WD packaging. That is nothing to go by as this particular stock number was used throughout WW2as one application was Bedford lorries amongst other vehicles. Sometimes parts are repacked as well so do not be mislead by these dates. I know the Carrier would have had a suffix /41 and not /29 as the one shown, but beggars cannot be choosers. Better than sitting around waiting for an "original" one to come along, life is too short :)

To all sellers: regardless if the item is post-war or not, in cases like this do mention the fact that the item you offer for sale is not the one shown in the picture.
