Parade Markers - 106mm RR

I recieved a number of 106mm shells from a member here. I've since sandblasted them, painted them, and made up HEAT projectiles for them from maple, and I have more than I need for my man cave.

$275/set of two.

Very nice!!

Thanks! They turned out so nice with the maple, I couldn't bear to paint the projectiles OD green.

Here's the whole family - an assortment of shells and rounds. I know, some aren't strictly accurate...like the gold painted 106mm casings.

Turn a couple of 17 pounder...

projectiles and I'm in for 2 or 3. Very nice. Cheers Rob Fast

Nice Work

You can't by any chance run me off a couple of 16" shells like they fired on the Missouri, can ya?

I'm just waiting for our wood copies of the 76mm rounds from a CVRT to arrive in.

will post a picture

Hi Hans

What are the two projectiles on the recoiless shells next to the 106 HEAT replicas?

Do you know if the cases on the 106 mm and 105 mm RCL are the same length? And are the projectiles between the two similar?

I have 4 x 105 mm RCL shell cases (ex-the Alaskan haul road) which I'll use for my Land Rover 106 mm RCL carrier.

Those rounded projectiles on the two gold painted 106mmRR casings are spin stabilized HEP (High Explosive Plastic "squash-head" rounds").

Dianaa I have no idea how the 105mm RCL compares to the 106mm RR. If you have dimensions, etc, something could be made up. Specs on the 106mm ammo is easily found with a google image search and you can compare to your casings.

I'm hearing a couple of requests for 17pdr rounds. 17pdr AP could be done, but a quick google search doesn't turn up any ammunition dimensions/specs (the 105 and 106mm projectile specs were readily available). I'm currently also looking for 25pdr ammo specs as I have several casings that need to be filled.

Try your local woodturner guild-probably save you a bundle on shipping and it allows the projectile to be fitted to the casing or if you have an example from a museum, etc, it can be used as a template. Many of my casings had some variation due to denting, etc. A commercial operation with a copy lathe (like a spindle factory) would be ideal...all of mine were freehand copies.
