British parts list

I'm looking for anyone who has or knows of any early British spare parts lists. I have an original copy that has proved invaluable with the Scout rebuild, the "problem" I have is that its a 1942 edition of a book that was first issued in 38/39 so it includes the MK1. This can be very useful when trying to work out what later spares started out life in the early carriers but the majority of the illustrations are for the MK1. By finding an early, pre MK1 edition I'm hoping some of the details may become clearer.

The chilwell number is 63/26 , not sure if this would be the same on earlier versions? Anything earlier than 42 would be interesting to see. Late 30's would be ideal!

Any help or leads would be much appreciated.

Ben

Hi Ben,
Have you enquired with the Tank Museum library? They were very helpful on the occasions that I enquired.

regards, Richard

Not specifically, I've asked about general early books and they couldn't help. Perhaps a more specific enquiry might help.

Ben, I don't know how the chillwell numbering system works, but the number 63 seems to feature with regards carriers. My manual is 63/63.
Maybe there exists an index?

Ben,
Duxford have quite an archive, I tracked some Loyd manuals down with them. Ask to speak to the Land Warfare hall.

I just had a look on the national archives site for bren carrier but unfortunately no parts or instruction book but they did have a pamphlet for handling the bren carrier dated march 1940 which might be of some use.
they also have a report and large drawings on the hull dated December 1938

Thanks Rick

Yeah I spent some time looking at what the PRO has, I thought I'd struck gold and ordered a report on WS11 instalation in scout carriers. It was a 10 page pamphlet that pretty much said that the WS11 set works fine, aerial horizontal or vertical, that's it.

I need to go there to see what's what first hand.

Ben
