Not intending to hurt anyone's feelings but you put it out there so your inviting opinions.

Not something I would do with that vehicle nor would I want done on any property I'm responsible for.

I have already been involved with one carrier that nearly flipped (i was not the operator) and would have claimed a life if it had.

Steel track on steel surface like those vehicles, like skates on ice potentially.

Whatever floats your boat, your a grown adult.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought that a carrier would even do that. You need something bigger/heavier next time!

rob love 09-12-13 20:19

As long as there have been tracked vehicles, people seem to have been doing that. Loved the video.

Took a FV432 to the community picnic years back and drew tickets for who got to run over some cars. Raised a few hundred $$ for the center, and had a hoot. Pre-youtube days unfortunately so no video.

Carrier crush

Good cause, good driver , safety issues . What would of been the result if what happened to one of my men in a LAAV happened here ?

The driver went over a large stump for the fun of it : Result, the LAAV overturned on its side and my crew commander was pinned under the hull.He did'nt die fortunately but was very badly injured.

The danger of that exibition is the carrier overturning on on one of its sides.

The driver would of been projected from his seat and crushed by the hull.

I think the stunt should be better prepared with ramps leading to and leaving the cars to prevent flipping of the Carrier and barriers or heavy equipment on both sides in case the small cars give more on one side than the other.

Otherwise , a very good show.

I did the exact same thing with an APC on a Iltis involuntarily in Suffield while backing up. My driver tought he heard '' Back UP'' when i actualy said'' let's go back up the trail ''

The Iltis was flattened to the axles. Fortunately the Captain and his driver had dismounted seconds before from the Iltis .

:rolleyes

Remember what your mother told you: if you haven't go anything nice to say . . .

I don't think the folks are being "un-nice"...I'll accept this as a sharing of "safety-related information", and a chance to communicate personal experiences. It is - in a large part - what we do here.

Do any of you REALLY think that I would risk one of the few un-cut carriers (and my flabby old skin) without at least a little bit of forethought and contemplation? I didn't just fall off the melon truck yesterday, ya know.

Those cars had been run over by the local jeep club all day, from the front, they looked like this.... ____v__v____ . two grooves formed by the collapsed roofs that would guide and hold the carrier on the centre line. The cars were similar enough, and both still had engines, so there was little chance of a non-symmetrical collapse. I did three run-ups before the final roll-over.

Besides - If I had wrecked Bucky(the wonder carrier)...I got spares...

Fair play Charlie.
