Santa's Wish List

If Santa was to grant you delivery of ONE fully equipped, restored and functional MV for Christmas, what would it be???
And being that's it's Christmas, it's a magic MV that never breaks down or runs out fuel. :p

Keith Webb 24-12-13 03:45

Wish for Christmas

For me it would have to be a cab 11 FGT, equipped with limber and 25 pounder.

Harley-Davidson WLC (vroom, vroom)

I wish

Hi Guys

I am a Jeep guy. My wish would be for a 100% fully restored MB Jeep in perfect running order. My second wish would be that I am not up for a big dollar expense, as when I checked the oil in my Jeep this morning it was Milky in colour.

Merry Christmas to all.

Tony :no4:

Col Tigwell 24-12-13 05:09

Sounds like water in the oil.

I would do a compression test and see how that looks.

Could be serious but could be something simple like head gasket

All the best

Col

Oh easy peasy answer teacher!

A diesel powered CVR(T) Samson which is the recovery variant of what people call the Scorpion family of all aluminium welded armour AFVs.

The Samson like its siblings, the Samaritan (ambulance) and Sultan (command) variants, is rare in private hands as it lacks the usual penis extension of something that resembles a gun and in fact as there were few made to begin with many have ended up as scrap as collectors do not see them as sexy.

It is a highly useful bit of kit with its winch, small and will fit on a reasonable sized float trailer like the Spartan I took down to Oshawa earlier this year and weighs in quite reasonably as well.

I would pick the Cummins diesel version rather than the J60 gas / petrol version as diesel is a safer and more stable fuel and lacks all those pesky carb issues.

Also the diesel just has more grunt.

Lastly the reason I would have it is that it is a very good recovery vehicle for the line of work I seem to be involved in these days, which is agriculture.

If you have ever watched some of the videos that abound of tractors and combines stuck in fields you would understand how the Samson would have the mobility to be transported to a farm, drive out into the field, drop the spade anchor at a safe distance and heave ho the wretched stuck machine out of the goop and hand over a nice bill and load up and move on. Something that those fancy big highway wreckers with Chrome and pretty paint can not do.

The farming business is so time critical and weather windows evaporate so fast people would pay and therefore make the hobby fun and profitable.

Not only that but even the name "Samson Recovery" just sounds so perfect.

Dear Santa, . . . . .

My wish would be my C15A finished as an exact copy of one used on the bulldog road in New Guinea.

Me too, first on my list. However I am getting an original Canadian Valentine manual for Christmas from my wife. How did she know....

Marc Montgomery 25-12-13 00:14

Mine would have wings..well it is a dream after all.

I wonder why there aren't more Valentines around? Maybe a lot got melted down and turned into more efficient t-34s and BTs and T54s?

Lots of Cdn Valentine production photos in one of the old Convoy magazines--also then and now pics...

Lynn Eades 25-12-13 01:31

This is a hard one for the greedy. There are so many possibilities. A relatively common, but nice CCKW 353 (closed cab) would fill a gap in my wish list. For that absolute Classic look, with the fuel covered, it would have to be a Diamond T Transporter (with a Honey (Stuart) tank on the back)
Not quite the ONE M.V.

rob love 25-12-13 04:18

My wants are small......a lynx should do nicely.

Howard 25-12-13 06:48

Christmas Truck

I'd like an F15 12 cab, fully rebuilt and reflecting both war time and post-war service.
Hang on... I've already got that (except the rebuilt part, of course)
A F60S Tipper would be handy, too!
Merry Christmas to all of my rusty and flaky paint brethren!
Cheers
H

Santa wish list

Well, I already have the vehicle but it still needs to be restored and completed with it's full CES. So Santa please make my Daimler Armoured Car like it just came out of the factory. :) Thank you! :salute:

Ahh, the old Sherman vs Tiger debate.
Maybe if you didn't run out of fuel first, lose a track, or breakdown in one of the numerous ways Tigers were famous for, ya, you might get me first LOL :note:

BTW, Tiger was my other choice.

Little Jo 28-12-13 02:16

Bah humbug

Hi Guys

I must have been in Santa's bad books for 2013 as I didn't get my Christmas Wish, and as far as my second wish I have been punished for being greedy and now I am up for a new head gasket on my MB Jeep. Bah Humbug.

Happy New year to all.

Cheers

Tony :no4:

Ryan 28-12-13 02:39

My perfect MV.

Be a Tiger I, but seeing he has already given that away to Dean I'll have a Panther Ausf G.
