TL103 - Bogie cup linings

Does anyone know where I can get NOS cup linings for bogie spring seats? Some of mine are serviceable but most are worn through. I guess I may be looking at getting some moulded, does anyone know what they are made from? I presume they are asbestos.

Asbestos, good luck with that.
I often thought that maybe a pourable epoxy or urethane would be a great replacement for these.

A chap back in N.Z. made his from a white industrial plastic. He heated the stuff in the oven, and then used a suspension ball and a suspension unit to press the shape into them, before trimming them up.
I cannot report as to how they have worked out.
Yes Chris they look like brake lining material and as wartime production, I would expect an asbestos content.

I used to have a small supply on hand and yes they were asbestos for sure.

I think they're impregnated with graphite, so as to provide lubrication.

Some people have used tennis balls cut in half as replacements :rolleyes

White Nylon works well too.
