Advice sought on Carrier transmission and Tracks wanted
2 Attachment(s)
Hello
We are a small team that are renovating a Danish ex tank dummy Carrier for a museum. The Carrier is in overall good condition but it has a slight problem with selecting 3rd and reverse gear. We are suspecting that it is do to too much play in the gear lever linkage, As anyone else had these problemes or can give advice on the matter? Would anyone be able to scan the pages from the spare parts book covering the transmission and linkage, as those pages are missing from our book. It Carrier is are frequently shown at various events, and therefore dos a bit of driving but the tracks are very very worn. There almost no "thread" left on them and the pin holes are all oval. Dos anyone have a spare set of usable tracks for sale? Regards Niels |
Selection problems...
check your engine mounts and engine alignment first.....

Thank you Charlie

Was a set on milweb..... Contact Staman ent, they are based in the Netherlands, and make tracks for Sherman's, half tracks etc etc, as the carrier population continues to grow it may be worth while getting in touch see if they will produce track for carriers ;-)
Problem with buying second hand track is it's usually Knackered... They not only wear on the treads and sprocket contact points , but the lugs become stretched and oval, also the faces of the lugs where they interlock also wear and you get to the point where you can make a circle with your tracks...... Some people upsize the track pins but this only cures half the problem.... |
You are right Richard. A used track will allways be use and have its down sides.
I have also been giving a having new ones made a thought, there must be a increased demand for them. So Staman could be a possiblity otherwise there is a german firm on milweb making track for Pz III and IV maybe they could make carrier tracks. http://www.milweb.net/webvert/69710/ |
yes I have had a quote from them..... you could buy another carrier.
They are very very good mind, the problem is unless they have a massive amount of track links to make you get hit for the tooling and setup costs which are vast. so unless you can get alot of other carrier owners with some serious money to hand, you may struggle to get the required minimum. |
hmm... :bang: well at somepoint enough people will need tracks for it to be feasible to have new ones made.
I have some leads to follow on tracks now. |
Thanks for all the help.
The problem seems to have been due to a worn gear selector. |
Glad you got sorted Niels. Tracks next ;)

A source of tracks might also have been found.
