Trade terminology question
 

I just ran across a bit of Canadian military code/terminology I have never seen before in an article I was reading. It referenced an individual as follows:

LtCol Joe Blow, A/U Blah Blah

The rank and Blah Blah made sense to me but I have never seen the "A/U" abbreviation before. Can anyone tell me what it stands for, if it is common, or perhaps just the poor schmuck's attempt at identity crisis management?

Can't say i've ever seen that one before.
Although Lieutenant Colonel should be LCol. I've been noticing more and more use of US rank abreviations lately, ie Cpt instead of Capt and Pvt instead of Pte.

A/U is not in the on-line translation tool, nor is it in the official abbreviation list. The one thing that comes to mind is "Acting Under", like a designated person for someone else.

As Scott points out the LtCol abbreviation is US, does anyone have access to US books that might also have the A/U abbreviation decodes?
