Crikey John, that must have been a bid of frantic bidding to get those prices. How much did the Chev HUP go for because the auctioneers estimate I saw on a BBC news site seemed way too high?

regards, Richard

Cash in while the interest is there! :)

Bob brought his carrier to our Weymouth parade a few years ago. He kept breaking down with an electrical problem on our Saturday run to Portland. The same AA guy came out to him about four times and was quite amused and patient at trying to fix it for Bob.
Bob told me that he'd bought the carrier still unopened in it's crate, complete with all its tools, spares and markings. He promised to send me a copy of the video they took when they opened it up. But even after a reminder.....He never did. :confused Ron

The Carrier
Quote:

Several of the WWII military vehicles have won awards at vintage rallies and events nationwide. The highlight is perhaps the 1944 Universal (Bren gun) Carrier with a Ford V8 engine. This incredibly rare vehicle was acquired in its original box ready to be shipped from Canada. It is to be sold complete with its original type transporter trailer and a genuine 290 miles on the clock! Also of particular note is the 1952 Scammell Explorer recovery truck fitted with a modern 14l Cummings 250 engine. The buyer will also get all the original tools and hand books included within the sale of both vehicles.

The 1943 Chevrolet Radio Truck, another vehicle of significant interest, is complete with a rare 19 radio set, all tools and equipment and has travelled less than 10,000 miles.

The Ford jeep
Quote:

The ‘soft top sports car’ comes in the form of a 1943 Ford US army jeep, again in show condition and ready to drive away.

I knew a chap who also had a crated carrier and on a British Legion parade it broke down with a duff coil, so although unused, there are parts that fail over the passing years.
