Ferret Brake Line Replacement

Progress on my Daimler Ferret Mark 1 is progressing albeit slower than I'd like. Now that the interior has been stripped, I thought it would be prudent to replace the brake lines.

Looking in the manual it indicates that they are 5/16" O.D. Bundylin steel tubing. An internet search for "Bundylin Steel" revealed nothing.

Can anyone tell me what the modern equivalent to Bundylin steel would be? Has anyone tried using stainlees steel tubing?

Bundy tubing I believe was the North American name. Basically it was steel seamless line with a certain amount of copper in it to prevent rusting. It was the standard forever. You can go with stainless, or you can just use today's off the shelf brake line, which meets the newer specifications.

I personally always referred to the brake tube as Bundy tubing, and was surprised the other year when the parts counter guy (an old guy at that) had no idea what I was talking about.

Cunifer or Cupro-Nickel is a far superior brake pipe and will not corrode. Can be shaped easily too.

Dear Neil,

Glad to see you have made it here.

Would love to see pictures.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses and explanation of what bundylin is. Richard, I have found a supplier in the USA and they list 5/16" piping but this leads to another question..... what type of fittings (metric, SAE, Whitworth etc) are used on the Ferret brake lines?

Here's the web site

I saved the old fittings when I redid a ferret. I think they are SAE, but can't say for certain.

Thanks Rob, as soon as I'd made that post, I realized that I wasn't thinking it through and that the simplest thing to do was reuse the old fittings.
