Chev Ambulance

G'day all,

Rather than Hijack the Indian Pattern thread, I'll start another one.

Graham has asked me to help him gather some more information on his '42 Chev coach-built ambulance.

He was wanting to know if any one had any period photographs of this type of ambo, or any details of markings and/or which coach building firm built the ambulance body for them.

Graham's chev may be familiar to some because it has been used in an Australian made war movie or two.

I have seen a number of them in one of the series of documentaries called "ANZAC" featuring Bud Tingwell giving some of the commentary.

Thanks,

Robert.

here are 3 from the AWM. Most Info I have show the RAAF used these as well as a few Local Hospitals for dental vans etc.

a few more from the AWM and South Australia Library (I think) showing other medical vehicles using this style of coach built body.

Graham (who is not on MLU) is preparing his ambulance for "the year of the emergency vehicle / GM at Corowa.

As you can see his vehicle doesn't have any markings & he asked me if I could help him find out what they would have originally looked like.
These period photos will be a very valuable resource.

Excellent!

Robert.

The unit for the second photo in the first post is for RAAF 18th Squadron based in the Northern Territory of Australia. I suggest trying to catch up on what their markings were and mark the vehicle that way :D Please post some pics of the inside for me if you can please for one day I just may get to do a model of it. :thup2:
