Australian Animal names usage.
Wayne Henderson posted a rather cute photo of a visiting Bandicoot on another thread, which got me wondering if the Australian Military ever used local animal names for any of their equipment, either formally, or on individual equipment items. 'Bandicoot' would seem to make an interesting name to put on a Ute.

All the Vickers IVB tanks were named. Those from NSW after animals . Wallaby, Koala , Platypus are three I know.
The Victorian six were named after birds. Magpie Kookaburra and Lyrebird are some I know. |

My ex Australia Land Rover 110 Perentie, (Photo Attached) was named after the Perentie (photo attached). The perentie is the largest monitor lizard or goanna native to Australia, and fourth-largest living lizard on earth, after the Komodo dragon, the crocodile monitor, and the water monitor.
