Identification please
Hello,
I'm trying to indentify this locker. It has the following parts-number : 929824 Does anybody have any idea as to witch vehicle this belongs? http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...cook/kast4.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...cook/kast3.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...cook/kast2.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...cook/kast5.jpg http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...cook/kast1.jpg |
Hi mate,
I could be very wrong, but it looks like the spare parts box for a GMC truck- CCKW and the like. I dont know exactly, but I saw one a mate got for his truck and it was identical. Believe they might be correct for other trucks too- dodge WC, studebaker and I'd say any others? Hope this helps, Ian. |
Yes, Ian, Freek, that looks like a Dodge WC part number and is the box from under the dash (above passengers feet)

Late war Dodge WC Parts Box
These are correct for late / very late WW2 WC open cabs, and they were very expensive at one time, however I'm sure John at Midwest Military did an excellent repro which took the edge off the prices.

It's a standard spares box and was produced to be installed in a range of vehicles. The holes in the back of the box allow it to be bolted to the aft face of the firewall under the dash on the 3/4 ton and 1-1/2 ton Dodge WCs.
The Studebaker US6 has brackets under the glove box that this box can be bolted to using the top set of holes. David |
And as Gordon points out, the earlier Dodges never had the pressings in the firewall for the mounting of the box.

Hello gentlemen.
Thanks for your answers and help. It has possitively identified as a GMC toolbox / Dodge spare parts box. Allthough it isn't mine, I've been informed it will be for sale soon (The Netherlands) as it isn't what the owner thought it would be :) If anybody is interested I will bring you in contact with the owner. |
