Arctic Military buildup...
1 Attachment(s)
...My fighter wing, a T6 TEXAN . This was actually a Navy built Texan with had a different designator, escapes me at the moment. But it isn't a true Navy version because this was was built for the Airforce by the Navy and has features of both aircraft. Making it pretty darned rare.

...in case any of ya'll try to sneak up on us.... I should add this is a refitted S2P/CS2F TRACKER, made by De Havilland the kind that would have flown off the canadian carrier in search of Victors and such. It is now rebuilt by Conair and is called a S2P Firecat. There were three here , bombing some of the 71 fires we have surrounding us currently.

DC-4'ss
Sean, are the DC-4's painted with green trimming from Buffalo Air.My bosses son is piloting an old C-46 & C47's out of Hay River & is getting his hours in as co-pilot om the DC-4 mail runs
|
Buffalo Joe
Yessir Garry, Buffalo Air is the operator. He also operates the CL215's . Small world, next time a C46 is in town I'll snap a pic, though they come here infrequently.
On a side note, if someone really wanted to ride in a DC3 ,Buffalo still operates a DC3 passenger service from Hayriver to Yellowknife and return. With these old planes you never know when a competitor will show up with something new and shiny and the service will end. But for an inexpensive foray in to the past its great. Come for the flight, stay for the fishing:cheers: Sean |
Its the Pitts

Political Build-Up
Sean,
Was watching Newsworld this AM & saw a scene of a white Air Force 412 Squadron Canadair Challenger landing at Yellowknife last night with the Prime Minister aboard.Another foto for you |
Challenger
Hi Garry
the Challenger was here 2 summers ago with a (cough choke grrrr ) "politician" and sat on the ramp for about 6 hours. It was hot that day, and the Colonel flying it, and instead of staying in our terminal or renting a room in town, at taxpayers expense, ran the PT6 turbine APU so he could keep the airconditioning on to have a nap. Cost 1300 bucks in Jet A on the old government card. I really miss being unaware of all the abuse of our trust politicians do. I won't mention the truckload of gifts she took home with her, expected because we ay her salary? I just don't know. Sean |
Female Politician??
Are you talking about aa politician of Asian persuasion occupying a certain Government house paid by taxpayers, who takes numerous trips worldwide while blowing her budget, and not giving a damn about it to the public?????
|
LOL...
...nope a different one who has no education or work experience and who is now in cabinet winning by 53 votes due to her (unspoken) versus accomplishments. Though she did get a trip to Newyork, Mexico and a fur coat on the government credit card on her vacation and cried in parliment , for everyone to see ,after saying she didn't know how credit cards worked...
I should add I'm a bit bitchier than normal as two guys my age ( 35&39 ) killed themselves in last three weeks in town. I would consider them more successful in their professional lives and I knew one well enough to call him a friend. Makes a guy pause and think, perhaps too much. Sean ps: neat story on the DC3 though. |
