Rebuilding Ford lights
1 Attachment(s)
Once upon a time, back in the mid 1970s when I worked for Hughes Auto Spares I remember we had in stock brand new cab 13 Ford headlight kits, in boxes with instructions for removing the blanking plate on the front shell and installation. Although I did have a couple they were used on projects back then, and how I wished I still had them now when I decided to get the lights working on the FGT.
Here's what it looked like when I got it. It had a sealed beam on one side and had once had he same on the driver's side. |

Once removed, the headlight buckets were disassembled and the parts treated to cleaning by electrolysis. I found one was reusable but the other had turned into a colander! Another disappointment was the original reflectors and wiring had disappeared when the lights were replaced with 12v sealed beam types which have a plug in fitting. Fortunately though I had some spares, although they needed a lot of work!
Disassembly can be a bit discouraging when the screws holding the glass retaining ring have been burred over. This batch of images shows the spare ones before rebuilding. |
have you enough parts to fix them up Keith

Actually I may be in need of one of the screws to hold the lamp door on. Will know once I've finished looking through the bits. |
