CJ2 and CJ3 in Military Use

Spinning out of another thread here, I recall as a kid, Revell or Monogram, flogging a 1/35th scale model of one of these 1/4-ton variants as a 'Korean War Jeep'. What sticks in my mind was the presence of two struts on either side coming off the frame below each door cut out with an oval shaped steel plate, step. Nothing ever looked right to me with this particular kit, so I never bothered with it.

Now I am curious. Did either of these post war jeeps ever see military service in any significant numbers anywhere?

David,

Yes, the post-war CJ jeeps were used by many Armed Forces, to name a few: the Netherlands (see link), Belgium (see link) and Israel. Even the US Armed Forces used CJ jeeps!

Have a browse through Derek Redmond's The CJ3B Page, it is an excellent website with tons of info.

HTH,
Hanno
