Matador Medium Tractor In Canadian Service

Did Canadian medium artillery regiments employ the Matador tractor in Northwest Europe or was it replaced by the FWD tractor?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Chris

The Medium regiments of 2nd Canadian AGRA used FWD and Macks to tow their 4.5 and 5.5 inch guns.
However, in the book “Gunners of Canada” Vol II photo No 44 shows 1st Canadian AGRA on parade on the 16 June 1945 at Arnhem Airport. 2nd Medium Regiment appears to have one Matador tractor along with the FWD and Macks.

Thanks John. I forgot about that photo in The Gunners of Canada!

Hi Chris,
Just to try & expand on the picture that John posted earlier. The one I have posted is a slightly larger view of the line up at Deelen Airfield from the RA Commemoration book. At the top of the picture is a line 13 of Matadors and what looks to be 2 FWD's. Though the British 3rd Medium Regt. were attached to the 1st CAGRA at this time so some of the Matadors (& FWD's) may well belong to them and not the Canadians??
Also there only seems to be 15 guns in each line, would have expected 16 for a regiment?
Regards
Mel
