Australian built steel trays
I have purchased a steel tray for my 15 cwt Ford. It is an Australian built pressed tray with pioneering tool fixtures on the sides.
What I want to know is did this trays sit straight on the 15 cwt chassis or did they sit on timber above the chassis. I know that u bolts secured them in place. If they sat on timber can anyone please give me the measurements. |
On timber
Not sure of the exact size of the timber packing but maybe someone can help. Do you have the spare wheel carrier as well?

spare wheel carrier
G day Keith. The spare wheel carrier I have has the spare wheel located in the center with 2 steel clam type attatchments that hold the wheel in place. I believe this is a Canadian built box. I also checked the photos of the Cab 12 F30 and they appear to be single tailshaft, being only slightly longer in the chassis than my F15a.

Yes, yours is a Canadian box. The Canadian F15 has many small detail differences in the cab compared to Australian ones. There are a few Canucks who'd be keen to get their mitts onto your clamshell spare wheel carrier! The Cab 12s sound very interesting. Do they have 16" wheels? If so, they'd be the only ones of this type I've heard of here. |
Wheel size
The steel rims are 20 inch. The property has various cab 13 F60l parts everywere including v8 engines lying in the dirt! Maybe the 16 inch rims are lying there somewhere and they used the F60L rims

You most likely are right Keith. I think I will go ahead and recover the projects. I will post further details when I know. All the data plates from the trucks are gone. I recently purchased a copy of Year of the BLitz and was very impressed. Keep up the good work

Shame about the data plates though... perhaps there are some Army numbers lurking under layers of paint. Good for you for recovering them too. |
