Ford F60S

Just thought I should tell you all about my latest find.

The Ford is almost complete and look pretty good. She will requires some(a lot of) work to the electric system and a paint job before she is back on the road again.

The chassis serial is 161842, engine serial is 46-17813-F and it was build on November 5. 1943 to SM 6055.
I don't know if the engine is the original one as I haven't checked it yet. I'm not familiar with the V8 and don't know where the engine number is on that type.
The data plate for the rear body is there as well and it was made by Motor Coach Industries LTD and the body code is 5W1 (this is a tipper) with serial no S1975.

I will try to post a picture of her later when I (hopefully) get my scanner to work again.

Geir, congratulations!

I have the impression most surviving CMPs in Norway are Chevrolets, so finding a Ford must be quite a rare occasion.

See http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_home.htm and http://www.telusplanet.net/public/bboogaar/ for information about engine serial numbers and locations.

Regards,
Hanno

Congratulations, Geir

Good also to hear the data plates are still there. The engine number prefix is probably "4G" rather than "46".
Normally you'll find the number stamped on top of the block on the machined surface near the left rear of the valley cover.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures too!

1943 Engine

This is an amazing find since it is a new Ford S/M Demand that I did not know about! It is a British contract evidently for overseas delivery. Is Motor Coach Industries a Canadian company? The Engine number is a 1943 Model Year one..4G-etc., but may not be the original although November 1943 was into what would have been 1944 Model Year ordinarily. I need to look up more numbers!
