Humber Mk II in the Netherlands East Indies
1 Attachment(s)
In early 1942 Brigadier Blackburn VC found some Humber II light reconnaissance cars in Tandjoeng Priok harbour and used them to mechanize his Australian Brigade "Blackforce" (2/3 MG Bn, 2/2 Pioneers Bn and a Guards Bn plus services).
From where did these Humbers come? How many? Where they later used by the Japanese? |

Where did you read Blackburn found them in the harbour?!? I can't recall seeing/reading about any Humbers in Japanese service. H. |
Humbers
Yes Hanno, that I recall (despite reaching the age of 60 yesterday). But the questions: from where, how many and what happened were never solved.
The only thing I know for sure is that there is a photo dated 19th Feb 1942 showing a Humber in Tandjoeng Priok and that Brig Blackburn did mechanize his troops ad hoc. Stellan |
