Lancasters (yes, plural)
Hi All
Lancaster's (yes, plural). It cannot get any better than this, gave me goose bumps just watching the trailers. This is just the trailer - will be good when the doco is fully released later in the year. I hope you enjoy it.:remember:remember:remember https://www.youtube.com/v/5Ol2rem6d3g&autoplay=1&rel=0 Cheers Tony :no4: |
Hi Tony,
I had the good fortune to see one of the displays with two Lancs and will look forward to seeing the full doco. Thanks for the preview. cheers Richard |

Lancaster
Hi Guys
It was my pleasure to share the clip with you. There is something special when we see and hear those WW2 planes and like you I can't wait to see the full doco. These old planes like our restored vehicles should be saved for future generations to see. Cheers Tony |
Equally stirring (and twice as many Merlins) are the 2010 Youtube videos of 16 Spitfires at Duxford.

Beautiful, Little Jo! Absolutely beautiful!!!

Great
Hi All
I loved the videos and also of the Spitfires, boy that bought back memories of my visit to Duxford some years ago watching those old planes and also being to actually talk to one of the pilots and touch his plane.:remember:remember:remember Cheers Tony :no4 |
If you want to go to the other extreme of emotions, search YouTube for B-29 frozen in time. It's nearly an hour of video, and only the first 50 minutes or so are enjoyable. After that comes the sad bit. Some aviation enthusiasts found a B29 in a remote and snowy location, got it ready to fly out, then the APU broke free from it's mounting while taxiing, and the whole aircraft burnt to the ground/snow. Made me feel sick watching the disaster.

If anyone is interested, The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum has come out with a documentary on the voyage of VERA to England.
See the link for further details. http://www.warplane.com/reunion-of-giants.aspx |
hopefully we will see more than 1 Lanc in the air over Canada in the future with the Windsor Lanc under restoration and the Edmundston Lanc being sold out west and planned to be moved this summer , this being in very good condition and also a veteran with missions over Germany, spoke with a old boy at the airport there and he told me up until about 6-7 years ago the engines were run up every summer, lets hope,

Had the chance to be up close to V-Vera twice, at CWH Swing Out to Victory dance. Gives shivers to just touch it. With the swing band playing in front of her in the hanger it was like a time warp.

Spitfire
Hi Mike
I know exactly what you mean. I had a similar experience when I saw my first ever flying spitfire at Duxford and when it taxied over to the fence I got goose bumps just being there and being able to touch it. I will never forget it. :remember Cheers Tony :no4: |
Reunion of Giants
And the movie, 'Reunion of Giants' was stunning, and well beyond what was expected. Congratulations Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
