Grizzly AVGP new monument at Base Kingston

There are two new pads that have been waiting for something to fill them at The Beament gate where the M577 already sits as a monument.

In the last weeks this Grizzly has been installed but a closer inspection shows that final touches are needed to bring it up to proper standard I would suggest. See for yourself.

There is no CFR plate or numbers stencilled but I did spot this stamped number on the front of the hull

Different Paint Job

They should have stenciled the CFR at least, and interesting paint job.

I have just come from doing a short impromtu tour of CFB Meaford.

The monuments up there have all been hosed with an awful colour of green.

That goes from the Sherman to the AVGPs and everything in between.

Honestly, the Kingston ones look great by comparison

Yeah, They do look horrible, as the DA holder for them I get a lot of complaints about the colour. I argued long & hard to have them painted properly or at least left as they were but got shut down. the 548 and the Griz were in amazingly good shape before they were converted.

Dear Jay,

Kingston vehicles are quite good by comparison to other bases.

Last weekend I toured through Meaford and was gob smacked by the pale pea green colour the vehicles there are painted.

I did not take any pictures, the light was bad and it was at the end of the day.

having served in several of those vehicles during my time, and specifically having crewed one of them for several years in Petawawa, the pukey green is embarrasing. I tried but was unable to sway the decision of a bean counter who argued that cheap was more important than "pride in the uniform". New Army I guess... I'll stop ranting now.

Jay I just finished painting all the ones at the Gagetown Museum, for 35.00 bucks a gallon it can be fixed, and its waterbased for all the new tree huggers!

Unless my monitor is way off in adjustment, I think the colours shown pretty much reflect what I consider as the 3 colours of Cdn cam.
