Ford F15A Fuel Tank Lines
 

Hi all,
I am in the process of refitting my F15A fuel tanks and plumbing and I can't figure out where the pipes from the tank go through the chassis rail to the inside. All the holes in the chassis seem too small to fit the pipe and union. I have the old lines and they don't seem to be long enough to do anything but go through the rail. Could someone please post some photos of the set up.
PS. I am making all new plumbing, and I used a fuel tank repair kit to do the inside. You would need an extra tin of the coating to get good interior coverage.

Pretty sure there have been posts on this question in the past, perhaps some one can remember what it was titled so we can find it. Then we can link your very clear Title Ford F15A Fuel Tank Lines to the past information as well.

What Pattern and what year is your F15A as there were running changes?

Know that the question has been asked about Chevy's.

My truck is a cab 13, about 1942.

I am not in the position right now but if you use google and add site:mapleleafup.net in the search it will search our site only.

Aust assembled/manufactured F15A fuel lines did not go through the chassis, but over it.

From the fuel pump to the outside of the right chassis rail, and down to the fuel filter, then back up and across the cross member to the fuel tap in the middle/right of the cab floor. Then a fuel line ran to each fuel tank along the top of the cross member (one to the left, one to the right), then a right angle turn in each pipe and back to the fuel tank outlet. That's my memory: can someone with an F15A verify that memory, please?

I have seen photos showing as Mike says, and a complete turn loop before heading down from above chassis rail/s. From memory, I recalled reading something about this being to avoid vapor lock, but I don't know if that is correct or a later addition.

You guys might be right. The lines might be clamped to the outer chassis rail going forward. I find it odd that they then go over the top of the rail to meet at the tap. Some photos would be really useful.

Sorry for dragging the chain. Just could not find these photo's. This is my F15 (Not an F15A) but I suspect the layout is the same.

The lines certainly are located on the outside of the chassis. Im pretty sure they go over the top or they may go through a chassis hole.

Now wish Id taken more pictures..

Tony B. I have recently read that some where about the loops in the pipes, but as I recall it was to prevent fatigue, due to chassis flex.

Here are a couple of photo I have downloaded at some stage. The first one is the fuel line as removed. Second, shows line insitu. The truck may be Ford or Chevrolet, I cannot tell.

Last photo is the diagram from the maintenance manual. There is NO loop in the fuel lines.

Loops may have been added later due to failure in service?

I think they all have loops. The diagram is more of a schematic illustration.
