Response time/Replies
 

Not a knock Geoff, but twice tonight I got the message "Web site not responding" when answering a post and then ~5 minutes late the post showed up.

The internet as a whole ebbs and flows like the tides. I've had days like that, yet others - today, for me anyways - it's been "normal". I suspect it's a routing problem and probably congestion, between your ISP and the main pipe... or else further down the line towards our own server. All of us from around the world access the server from different portals.

These days you cannae depend on any degree of service, and no one will own up to a shortfall...

Any more problems?
 

I've been finding PMs slow as molasses today (yesterday was fine for me)... it could be my own internet connection, the routing, the server, or the software. Let me know your own experiences, please.

I've opened a ticket on the subject with my host, hoping they'll figure it out. Sending TO the server is slow, receiving FROM, or refreshing, seems normal. We'll see what they come up with... it still could be a traffic thing. BTW, it's not just PMs, it's posting, period.

Heard from the host:

We're actually working on this right now; it appears an account (not yours), has been running an IRC bot without permission, which slowed things down.

As soon as they isolate the source and shut it down, expect things to return to normal. In the meantime, even if you think a post you're making has stalled, just let it sit rather than do the back-button thing... it'll go through.

I HATE these spammer guys.
