Need help with oil filter and oil outlet on Ford F15
 

Hi I am looking for some advice on a Ford 24 bolt flathead in a Cab 11 F15A.
I cant seem to find an oil filter any where on the vehicle, and from what I can find on the net about flatheads, the outlet and inlet for the oil filtration, should be on the left side of the engine, when seen from the back, just behind the cylinder head, near the oil pressure gauge.
where there versions of the flathead with out oil filter or am I looking in the wrong place?

I know carriers have them, but cant speak for trucks. Should be piping a little farther to the rear than your photo, and include the pressure sending unit.

Earlier flatheads didn't have filters. And when they did, they were only partial flow...maybe 15% of the oil at best. They took oil feed from the gallery, filtered it, and dumped it back into the oil pan.

Carriers were different, as they required the extra cooling of a full flow oil cooler. Mk1 carriers only had the cooler, and mk2 carriers had the cooler as well as the same oil filter system as the Lynx armoured car. It was huge, although on the positive side it allowed more capacity which would also help the cooling.

It is possible to do the modifications to allow full flow (well 95% anyway) oil filtration, but it is best done during an engine teardown as the modification can and will introduce filings directly into the oil gallery.

Niels, you engine is already drilled.
The outlet is where the pressure sender is (there are two holes) The return is the plug in the photo (further up the bell housing) It needs a restrictor in the horizontal drilling.There might be a thread in there now.
You need to study up on how it works.

Looking at the 1940-1942 parts list, it indeed seems the oil filter was not standard on the earlier trucks.

The engine drawing does not show one:

But at the back of the parts list there is a section, including from which serial numbers onwards - differentiating between British and Canadian army units - the filter was fitted:
