Carrier Conduit Dimensions

Hi All,

Does anyone have a list of dimensions for the lengths of tube and types of fittings for the complete conduit arrangement of an LP2/2A Carrier?

I am aware that there can be detail differences between Carriers.

It would be great if someone had a diagram too, so that any carrier restorer could refer to this thread when making up the conduit for their project.

I've just picked up some new tube so I'm ready to get cutting and threading! :thup2:

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I see your point and understand your pain

Each BGC was different, depending on what the manufacturer sourced at the time.
I have noticed different ways of routing the conduit and the use of different fittings to achieve the same result or bend.

Most of the conduit was 3/4", there was a section behind the baulkhead (between start solenoid and regulator/upper elbow before going into front compartment) that was 1" This was to accomodate the additional wire(s) for the change between volt & amp gauges.

UNF thread fittings.
Conduit was installed/delivered in black, then may have been repainted green with the rest of the vehcile.

Some BGC had 1 or 2 conduits going into the dash area (front & rear conduit).
Some BGC had a 1" conduit running from centre baulkhead to elbow or Tee piece to dash.Next to the drivers R arm.
There was a minor different in how manufacturers routed the conduit to the rear taillights and how & when the conduit split between lights.

My suggestion would be (and I assume you have no conduit to copy) to make it up and route it from other examples. Just need to ensure they are correct, I have noticed a restored example very close to me in a gov museum has utilised plastic PVC elec conduit.....

I've had a scrounge through all the photos I could find of Carrier conduit and have laid out all my new fittings in my hull. All seems to make sense. I'll just start cutting and threading tomorrow and see where that takes me.

Does anyone have an original flexible engine conduit they could post some photos and dimensions of?
