Wireless 38

My wirelessing friends,
Q: Was the W38 AFV installed in anything else than tanks during the winter of 44-45 NWE campaign ? Could it also of been installed in Jeeps, Carriers or Sigs trucks ? Many thanks . Merry Christmas. |
Carriers, possibly; Sigs trucks: probably not.
I've seen a carrier with control units 16 & 17 fitted once at Beltring a few years ago, I think it was part of the East Midlands museum collection but have no idea if it was a WW2 installation. The initial WS38 tank install used an unmodified WS38 Mk.II with the normal infantry battery pack and a Control Unit No.12 instead of the WS38 junction box. The "ANT Ltd" on your control unit is "Antiference Ltd", by the way, and is the Mk.1/1(or tropicalised) version - the original had fabric covered dropleads. WftW Volume 2 makes no mention of anything other than tank installation. There was post-WW2 use of the harness with WS31 and WS88 AFV instead of the WS38AFV, and that was definitely an option for the Daimler Scout Car because I have a typewritten "kit list" for it somewhere. Chris. (And Seasons Greetings to all!) |
Many thanks.
Question answered. End of tread. Happy New Year Cheers. |
