Whose Lynx is this?
This is really embarrassing but several years ago an MLU-er sent me this photo of his restored Lynx. Since then, I have lost the caption file in which I normally keep this important data. If this is yours, or you know the name of the owner, please let me know. I would like to send this to press but wish to credit the photo appropriately.

Looking at the surviving Lynx register, it would almost appear to be the second Lynx from the Canadian War Museum.

That's Reg Hodgson's Lynx.

This is a photo of Reg's Lynx, that was taken a few years ago.
He has changed some of the markings. Al |

Guys,
Can't comment on the Lynx on the cover of Clive's new publication, but I do believe that Shadocks is mistaken when they quote two Lynxes at the CWM. I only know of one at the museum and here is a picture of Reg's Lynx 1, with the "CF70702" number, that I took on a visit to his motor pool in 2013. Peter Attachment 79794 |
Wrong information on the internet....who would have thought it possible.
I believe the lynx shown on Clive's cover is the lynx shown in my post, whether it belongs to the war museum or Reg. Same mirror, same painted POW cans, same straps for the cans, same white triangle, same antenna mount, same flat green paint. Only the markings seem to have evolved between the photos, as attested to by Al. |

ARN 123945 if Australian, is hull number 1637 with engine number 3G82075, one of the 170 which arrived here in 1943/44. If it is ARN 123945 then it was not a vehicle used in Canadian service. Another 123921 has been exported and is now in England or the USA. Attachment 79866 I have all the 170 Australian ARN's and Hull numbers if any one has a need. Mine is ARN - 123980, the last in the block of Lynx ARN numbers. Hull number 1726 with engine number 3G85015. Attachment 79867 I am looking forward to this book, Clive. Regards Rick. |
Reg has confirmed that this is his. The cover will be as shown at the top of the thread. Thnx all.

Reg did, indeed, purchase his Lynx from an Australian collector - already restored. Came from Adelaide, South Australia, I seem to recall. Long time ago now - early to mid 1990s.
There were 171 Lynx in Australian service: registrations 123810 to 123980 inclusive. Mike |
