Windshield Wiper Hose for M-38A1
Looking for oddball size hose, can't source any locally. :confused
|
Do you mean the air line that comes out of the dash and plugs into the tube on the side of the windshield?
|
Yes, the vacuum line from the pump to the dash. The one I have is petrified. :(
|
Do you know the size?? I've seen jeep ones on eBay, New manufactured. Are they the same sizes for other jeeps?
|
Found some! Thanks, guys. I couldn't find anything but 25' spools last time I looked on Ebay, but I see they have it now.
|
so show us the link...
|
Price was a bit steep with the shipping, but I bought some more stuff to make it worthwhile.

Size
What is the size (diameter) of the hose?
|
It's a bit late to help with the original request, but my local Part Source http://www.partsource.ca/ (a branch of the Canadian Tire empire) had rolls of vacuum tube in a variety of sizes when I was there this week. They had both larger and smaller than the 7/32 I was looking for to use on 1/4 metal tubes.

Vacuum Hose
Grant,
I'm sorry I didn't see your post until today but we keep 7/32 in stock at work and sell by the foot. I'm in Cambridge, On. |
Clarification to my last post
To clarify - I was working on a CMP, not a M38A1, so the sizing may be different.
I was only trying to suggest a source. If Part Source has it I would guess NAPA (in Queen Charlotte?), Carquest or other auto parts store should also be able to supply. Vacuum line seems to be sized to be 1/32 less ID than the OD of the hard line it is to fit over to ensure a good seal. Massett is only about 1000 people strong and on an island in Haida Gwaii off the west coast, so Jeep parts may be a challenge for Clint to source. I doubt Massett has a WalMart (or cares about having one), but they likely have at least one mechanical repair outfit who is probably very good at keeping things running because they can't be replaced by going across town to the big box store. It wouldn't surprise me if a repair place of that type either has the line or knows where to find it to keep older equipment running. |
Tried Napa and all the local garages, they suggested I scrounge some from an old wreck if I could find one. :(
