Wanted Images of 25 pdr jacket/barrel less breech
I'm looking for a few images of the jacket/barrel assembly of the 25-pdr without the breech attached, please, for a friend in New Zealand who is doing some CAD drawings for me. It's the interrupted thread he is interested in getting details of.
Does anyone have access to a 25-pdr jacket/barrel assembly without a breech block, please? Thanks Mike |
We have a couple of loose barrels here at the museum but without jackets. Would that help?

It is a buttress thread. What detail is your friend after. The Sexton barrel currently sits with no breach ring on it.

Thanks for the replies.
Rob: yes, a couple of images of the barrel breech end would be great. Perry: I gather the thread profile is a Buttress Thread, but that it is also interrupted to enable the breech to be pushed on and turned through about 1/6th of a turn from the 'disengaged' to the 'locked' position? At this stage of the game, a few images of jacket and barrel ends is all we are after. Thanks Mike |

Thanks, Peter, an interesting and informative image.
It is the other end of the barrel/jacket that we are primarily looking for images of. Thanks Mike |

Mike,
this the the rear end of a jacket, sorry about the quality, best I could do without a major shift around. Hopefully, Rob can get you pics of the barrel. |
Thanks Adrian, that's excellent and much appreciated.

I was sure I had another from the NZ Archives, and yes, I found it on my hard drive later yesterday evening.
