BSA WM20 oil line sleeve
 
Hi all. I'm looking for the rubber sleeves that go over the oil feed and return lines. I need 2 if anyone has or knows of a source that would be appreciated.

hi Ian,
thanks for the tip, heres a photo of a pair of oil lines with the rubber sleeves that im looking for. if someone has the complete line and doesnt want to split the sleeve im happy to buy the lot.

Is it an actual rubber sleeve pushed over the steel line for some sort of protection or a separate piece crimped to the pipe to make a flexible joint?
Looking at the picture again it looks like a separate hose crimped to the steel pipe to make a flexible section.
Easy to make if I had dimensions.

Thanks for the reply, as far as my research can discover the oil line is a solid pipe and the rubber sleeve slides over it, for what purpose im not sure, heres a photo of some without the sleeve Attachment 82049

Sterling,
It is many years since I have had those pipes off, but the rubber hose joins a long pipe and a short pipe together so there is a little flex in the pipe to cope with any slight misalignment or vibration issue which could cause a failure.
The hoses have thin ferrules on the ends and are crimped. A suitable crimper could be machined up easily. These ferrules were often used on fuel pipes, but failing that you could use small hose clips of the type with screw and nut. The hose would be available as an oil proof rubber. I would not trust old stock as the rubber may have hardened.

Hose should be for hot oil only, don't use fuel hose, it will last five minutes!
As said, they look crimped to join two pipes together to allow flex. Unless chance of rubbing on something or act like a heat shield, I can't see the purpose! I've made them for modern bikes out of braid (only as preference to owner!), car fuel and cooler lines, power steering hoses etc. The only thing I don't make is brake hoses as most are off the shelf! (Except air brake hoses, I make them!!)

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to take my pipes off today and have a sus. In the meantime I'll see if I can find some original ones that are in good condition. Otherwise I'll keep what I have.
