Poster of Photograph of Hoist to Mezzanine Level
 

Hello All,

Earlier this year someone posted up a couple of photographs of a hoist they had made to lift heavy objects from the ground up onto a mezzanine level in their shed.

I meant to copy the link down and ask the person about it. That was a while ago and where I thought the link was posted turned out to be incorrect. To jog people's memory I recall the photograph was accompanied by one of an engine lift mounted on a horizontal pivot, that was attached to a steel shed post.

Could the person who posted the photographs, or anyone who knows the post please step forward? It would be great if the Permalink to the posting could be copied into the reply too :) Thank you in advance.

If so this is the lift I built for my barn back in 2003. Based on electric hoist, with barn door track for the guide rails, 2x2inch box tubing frame.

Makes moving things up and down stairs to the loft of the barn much easier and make the loft really usable for active projects. Will lift 1200LBS easily platform big enough for one of my engine test stands with engine.

One of its more more day to day uses though is as a adjustable work bench in the shop, great for getting stuff to right height for working comfortably. Great for small parts like whole CMP axle assemblies.

It has a insulated shaft cover that is picked up as the lift cage reaches the loft. Covers the hole so you don't fall through and keeps the heat in the shop during the winter.

Can you please let me know what thread you originally posted those photographs up on? :note:

It may have had something to do with putting an engine back into a CMP without having to take the whole cabin off - just the nose instead. There was something else in the thread that piqued my interest. You know one of those "I must go back and look for that" moments. Soon as see it I will remember what it was :doh:

Thank you both for the reply and some tips as to where the link might be. I chased those links up and did not quite get there. I did enjoy the messages about the HUP and the Lincoln though!

I had another look and found the message amongst Tony Baker's excellent Ford Restoration project. Only 54 pages of it. Yep another Aussie :kangaroo
