Mystery electrolock

1 Attachment(s)
This 40" electrolock is marked LV7/GMC Can 1116287. It has an unusual 2 bolt flange to mount the switch to the dash. A typical firewall-mounted coil goes at the other end. I can find this number in any ChevGM civilian books 1929-1952 and not in common CMP books including Otter, Fox and C15TA. Any suggestions for the application? .... Brian

Hi Brian,

Try this one. 1940 Maple Leaf Truck Series 16-40/ E6, E7, E8, E12.

Attachment 82172

Also 1940 Chevrolet Truck Series 13, 14, 15. which has GM part number 1116291 and NASCO part Number 1116278.

These pages came from this book which was "Specially compiled for the AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES" by the National Automotive Service Company a division of General Motors - Holden's Limited.

Attachment 82174

Whilst this is an Australian publication, I am sure that it refers to the USA and Canadian General Motors vehicles.

Regards Rick.

Hi Rick, Thanks for the research. Electrolocks all cluster in this range of GM/Chev numbers but so far I can't trace my exact number. I did however find a 1950's commercial "Universal Parts Book" of after-market electrical parts of the era; it has an illustration of a very similar electrolock: specifically with the 2-hole mounting flange and fairly long cable. Says it fits 1935 Oldsmobile. So not much joy there!
