I'll start with the speaker but I think it goes with the wirelss set attached.

These all come in a bag so is quite portable.

So what era are we talking about? Looks 1960's but I don't know.

It is post war as you thought. It went with the VRC family of radios and some PRC/GRC sets as well. Typically used in mobile setups.
