C30, 11cab ID?
 

Hello gentleman,

can anybody help me with the exact identification? More precisely - where to find the right numbers? 2 dataplates are present, one of them is post-war Dutch (missjudged to be C60L) and from what I'd studied so far the engine No. should be 1940, so it matches the truck. Right?

It doesn't have the air vents so it's an early 1940 one.

One more thought - it has the reinforced rear springs and 11.00 x 20 tires.. isn't it after all the C60S?
The rear springs have 12+6 aux. springs.

UPDATE: Finding Hanno's thread from 2014, I believe now is C60S.
All the data below fits!

C60S:
Front axle with 6” steering ends
Brakes, front drum: 15” diameter, 3.5” width lining
Brakes, rear drum: 15” diameter, 3.5” width lining
Booster actuated brakes
Wheel size: 20” rims
Differential gear ratio: 7.16 to 1
Number of rear spring leaves: 12 + 6 Aux.

One question remains.. where can I found the chassis number please? It appears to be quite early CMP.

I think you're right, it's a C60S. The body type I will have to look up on Clive Law's new book. But it's a nice early CMP, is it yours?

For your information: the post-war plate is Belgian, not Dutch.

I do not know where to find the chassis number on a Chevrolet. Have you searched the forum for older postings on the subject?

I thought so.. Dutch or Belgian. Thank you. Yes, It is our new family member.
The seller said it was renovated about 10-15 years ago, but much minor works needs to be done yet and the renovation wasn't from the best definitely.

Yes, I spent some hours on the older topics, but I am affrait the Chevy chassis weren't numbered.. So the only clue now is the current plate. Or the engine number, which seems to be 1942.. so the original engine was probably replaced. There are some another different numbers, or codes, but I believe these are connected to the post-war time.. perhaps the markings of the Belgian army?

And regarding the body plate, I am not 100% sure it is from this particular car. There is a low serial No. I'd be glad for a help!

Anyway, despite the first "not so happy" feelings when the truck arrive I am becomming to fell in love with her. The old 11 patt. cab and the huge massive 60cwt wheels makes the truck absolutely lovely!

Hello gentleman,

just identified my C60S engine - USA made 270 GMC.
The same identification dataplate is present on my Otter, but in poor unreadable condition.
Is it the early original engine mounted to the GM trucks, or some kind of later replacement please?
