I found this while on a road trip.

it is date stamped 1944 but I could not find any broad arrow.

It is a green or brown colour.

Anyone recognise it or can explain what it might be?

Looks very similar to the one supplied with the 25-pdr field gun. It sat to the right of the saddle in a timber holder with a leather(?) strap.

No doubt the gunners on this forum will be able to provide a more definite ID if it is what I think it is....

It is a 3 hour drive away from me and I will be buying it tomorrow.
