A 3/4 apt?

Greetings from Northern Ontario, this is my first post and the first I have ever come across what I think might be a 3/4 APT with a lot of modifications.

This journey started by looking for a truck to plow some snow and I have the good fortune to now own this one and another parts truck that still has its 3/4 APT dash tag, but they both need a ton of work.

I have owned a 51 M38 for 17 years, but never anything else military.

Truck one has what I presume to be a 54 Ford Cab grafted onto the original APT dash/cowl

The data plate is missing and the frame has strange splices in it that look very neat..almost factory

Is that a factory frame shortening or something really well done back in the day?

As always I have tons of questions :)

This truck was the pride and joy of a fellow who is the grandfather of a friend of mine. I know it doesn't look like much but there is really some incredible detail in joining the cabs. This truck worked hard every day of its life I think, and it has plowed a lot of snow apparently.

Ok here are some numbers

There is a tag by the passenger door mid way up from the floor that has the number #4230-2380 stamped in it.

The serial number in the cab on the Dodge data plate is a frightening 91166613, if you are superstitious that is :0

The engine numbers are T149E 13190

If anyone has an idea of where I might get a hood anywhere in Ontario/Manitoba, or even shipped that would be helpful.

The rad appears to be a direct fit, but doesn't have the center fill at the top, rather off to the side.

It doesn't look hacked in at all, and appears to bolt right in to the factory location but the rad cover has been removed, though I did find it when scrounging around.

the Cab you have appears to be Ford F-100 and someone may be able to use that, the serial # you have listed is APT for sure, you can also find the serial on the frame behind the front wheel ,pass side if I remember , engine should be T-236, are the braces from the cowl to the floor still there, if so they have a C broad arrow stamped on them , again APT clue, hope this helps,

The cab is so carefully cut out to mate to the what I hoped was an APT tub...I am not sure it is easily separable. I haven't looked too close at the floor, but it looks to be a blend of both trucks. I believe the cab to be a 54 ford, and if you look close you can see where the gauge cluster for the ford leaves a space over the APT tub.

The Grandfather who owned this truck was a very talented welder and bush worker. lots of the additions or repairs to the truck were very much due to the cold winters and working with what he had on hand. He used the truck to support his family with work and snow plowing over the years.

The truck has a lot of history and value to the family, it is an honour for me to get the opportunity to own it. I wish I had met the fellow as I think he would have a great bunch of stories to tell.

I went yesterday with my cellphone, but am documenting the process of retrieving the truck, as well as it is my hope to sit with family members and create a small photo and story/history book for the family to have. I want to document all that this truck has done and what it meant to them. Apparently the grandkids remember riding in it picking raspberries etc. It is critical that I save these memories from the scrap pile and ensure that the truck lives on in a book, and in my driveway.

I still have to bring it home, but that will most likely be next weekend. I can post up some more detailed shots when I have it in the yard.

I happen to know the whereabouts of 2 apts near Moosehorn ,Manitoba that can be had in the $1500 dollar range, or at least they were their a couple years ago

Or were the APT short wheelbase on a factory one piece frame?

That would be good but I am running out of storage room with a few other projects.

However if I could find a hood, I wouldn't mind a drive or shipping.

So I have a great running 1952 Canadian 236 and it's 4 speed trans from a 2 ton truck

Does anyone know if the trans from the 2 ton is the same as the APT transmission. Or will it even fit in place of the original.

The 2 ton trans has a pto that drives a hydraulic pump for the dump bed and I would like to use that to power the snow blade.(until I start a resto next year)
