Boys Anti-Tank Bi-Pod
2 Attachment(s)
Greetings from NJ, USA!
I have an Inglis made Boys anti-tank rifle in .50 cal. Harmonica style muzzle break. A few pics attached. It is missing the bi-pod and searching high and low and looking for one. The rifle has a different kind of mount/attachment on it - something I have not seen before. In any event I would like it back in original configuration. Saw a few references here to these interesting relics and though I would reach out. Anyone have one or know where I might find one? Many thanks. |
I am jealous. I only have the BSA Boys rifle....the Inglis has eluded me.
Your adapter may be someones manufacture to mount on either a M2 or a M3 Browning tripod. You are looking for a mk2 bipod, which is hard to find. BRP in the US has the mk1 bipods which were modified to mount on the vickers. Perhaps their poor condition ones would fit the bill if it is the clamp that is damaged. http://www.brpguns.com/vickers-machi...xiliary-mount/ If you really have your heart set on the mk2 bipod, Aleghany Arsenal has the right leg only. http://mg34.com/product/boys-anti-tank-right-bipod-leg/ Numrich has the bipod mount listed for a mk2: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/349490.htm |
Thank you SO much for this elusive (to me) information. The modified Vickers units look to be the right and complete units. I think, based on pics, just have to remove the ring clamp.
Well, it won't be the exact model bipod, but given how scarce these are I think I will put them together. |
You are among friends
As a good Canadian, I have to apologize for no one having exactly what you asked for, ready and wrapped beside the front door waiting for a buyer. Next time as a nation we will be better prepared. However, our next best national resource is helpfulness. As you experienced, we freely share among friends.
But, never show up at the party without a case of beer. What can you teach us? :salute: |
Your kindness is exceeded only by your patriotic pride!
Lets see.....topic is Canada and Militaria...... (1) I am a collector of the 1941 Johnson rifle. A large number were brought to Canada in the 1950s (Dutch surplus) and they ended up being sold into the US market. You guys ever see those up there? Very interesting design by which I am forever bedazzled. http://www.johnsonautomatics.com/winfield.htm (2) Big Dodge M37 (Power Wagon) fan. The Canadian military version is seen here once in awhile - larger engine than they used here in the US military. Great parade truck. Best to all. |
Hey Rack Grade , my name is Robert what is yours ? Up here in Canada we also appreciate the Johnson . As a matter of fact i am also a fan. I visited with the nice museum at the Crossroads in Virginia this summer and saw one there very well displayed. Kind of like mine except i have spare barrels and one of them is in .270 Win . Nice for deer season in november . O' Canada ...

Hal from NJ here!
You are a fortunate man to have extra barrels - scarce as hens teeth here. But then, sadly, so is hunting....too densely populated in NJ. I am blessed to have two Johnsons in full military configuration, one MilTech restoration and two Winfield Johnsons with sporter stocks. Looking for a couple of original military front sights if you know any sources, and I was just in touch with a guy who is going to manufacture a run of walnut stocks for 1941 Johnsons - a thing needed around here since so many of the original stocks are now cracked at the wrist. Hope yours is in tact. |
I see the 41 Johnsons occasionally at gunshows and at local museums. Many owners do not realize they need to pin the rotary magazine to the Canadian requirement of 5 rounds. They are not exempt.

Hi Al from Jersey . I am Robert and an addict to ... Johnsons. I will look in my spare parts box for you tonight . I would be interested in a new stock . Mine is OK i guess but it still has cracks at the usual places . It is in all military configuration . No shit Rob. We have to pin that sucker ? Canadian laws relative to historic military artifacts stink . But Rob . ... don't say that to me please !

I passed up a refinished Johnson with a pitted bore for over two bills a few years ago. It would fit the collection, but not that quality for that price. I don't think any Johnsons have acceptable bores.
|
Sheesh... All you guys talking about your Johnsons ;)
|
I'd be interested in serial numbers, I know where 1463 and 2899 are.

Ladies and Gents:
Randal Murray at http://murraysgunstocks.com is the guy who will be producing stocks for 1941 Johnsons. He emailed me yesterday that he will be doing these around the turn of the year. If you want a set, email him and he will let you know when he has timing and pricing. |

Here in Canada our new baby prime minister just gave the police free reign to make decisions like this...and they are. |
Well that is about policy, not law, and it should fail in court.
A couple of d.jays were talking about some new survey that was out, about the freedom we have in various countries. Citizens of the land of the free and the brave never made it into the top 15. Canada topped the list as the most free people on earth. New Zealand was second. I think Norway and Denmark followed. The police commisioner here tried to re-classify some firearms issues. The police ran a big campaign. It cost a lot of money. A gun shop owner took the case to court and had the commisioners plan thrown out. What he needed to do was abide by the law. It probably applies in Canada as well. Unfortunately today we have politicians who don't have a good grasp of the law, or the language, and we end up with laws on the statute books that are not well thought out. These then go on to be expensively tested in court. Law by affordability. So, If you build your self a secure store room for your ammunition, and put 1000 rounds in it,.... and call it a magazine. Are you in trouble again? |
