LSVW new wheels in service
 

Saw these two vehicles recently, noticed one appears to have a new style of wheel, possibly Hutchinson.

Anyone know anything?

I was looking at them as well yesterday.

Saw some (8)for sale 2 month ago. They have been sold for the price of steel duhhhh. gcsurplus.ca.
Usually they are expenssive.
A canadian seller sell them quite high $$$$$

Other than looking complicated, they do not offer any advantage over the conventional drop center rim. I just did a set of the normal ones yesterday and while the weight involved lifting them onto the tire machine is significant (hey, I was tired from the weekend), they are no more difficult to remove and install than a set of Honda civic tires.

Runflats
 

Two-piece rims are required if you want to run a bead-lock type runflat. They are commonly sold as "tactical runflats" since they have better blast/mine performance. Regular runflats (for security vehicles) can be mounted on drop center rims.

Perhaps Jim, but there is nothing about an LSVW that is blast proof, nor are runflats shown in the DND system for them. Perhaps at that short point in time when they were trying to add some level of ballistic protection to the trucks, but that hardly justifies making the old stock number obsolete and having to order only the new rims for vehicles which were not going into theater.
