Bottom Radiator Hoses. So what did you use?

Following on from a previous thread where Rob L. was headed down the 8BA hose track.
I have bought a pair, but they seem too short.
The early carrier parts book (British) says "Hose,8 1/2 inches" A piece of straight hose doesn't look ideal either as the water pumps are below the radiator spigots.
I'm talking British and Canadian carriers.

What did you do and how did you fit it all up?

I have straight hoses on my carrier now, but they pull the outlets down, causing them to leak. I bought a pair of the preformed hoses and they seem like they are going to be just fine. However, mine (from Mac's) seem too long and will have to be cut shorter.

Do you have the long outlet water pumps or the short ones?

Black samco hoses, so flexi it does not matter that they are straight

Lynn Eades 27-11-16 09:01

Rob, I have pumps with long tubes.

Richard, Ive not heard of Samco here. I have bought a length of straight Mackay hose.

I am waiting for the responses.

SAMCO do a lot of the Race Car kit here, protective clothing, equipment etc.
There is also Demon Tweeks and Earls Motorsport.
They do the coloured silicone hoses but also a 'classis black' range.
Have a look at your local 'Boy Racer' store or ask anyone who drives a 1.1 litre car with 4" exhaust and 20" alloy wheels on it! :fry:

Worked a treat for my 4ltr V8 flathead, with my 8 rims and two small exhausts

20 inch wheels, V8, 1 inch exhausts. Sounds about right. :salute:

Paul Dutton 28-11-16 09:22

Now I'm jealous!! Just don't dismiss them, they all do a classic range and if you can use a silicone hose that looks like original rubber, better wear, heat and manipulation properties, then why not.
Must cost a fortune to chrome plate all those rims!!

No plans to chrome them Paul, but looking forward to polishing them a bit. :D
