Mystery brass plugs
1 Attachment(s)
For lack of a better option I'll put these mystery plugs in the armour section. 2.5" threaded diameter. Solid brass/ bronze? One marked 20846T the other TM455 SA. Perhaps an armored vehicle drain plug or an artillery fitting? ... Brian

With your recent luck Brian they might just be bathtub drain plugs...
In jest. Cheers. Bob |

They are fuel tank filler caps for Valentine tanks. Andrew Rowe posted these photos on HMVF of his replica ones that he made as he didn't know about yours.

Thank you David, I am pretty good with obscure parts numbers but those numbers were a puzzle. Plus I have never seen a Valentine tank. Without your identification I would have been out at antique shops looking for one of Bob's gigantic bronze bath tubs.

Had a chance to go through my Valentine VI & VII (Canadian) parts book: sure enough; fuel filler cap asemblysy TM455SA. Cap only 20846T. The parts book shows an external chain attached to by a ring around the collar of the cap. My caps have a small steel angle bracket screwed to the inside top of the cap with a brass chain attached would be inside the filler neck. Brian

Caps have a new home and a donation to MLU is being forwarded: we are lucky to have this forum. ... Brian
