Some wonderful images. here's a few from the latest batch that are relevant to us. William Vandivert spent time in this case with the Chindits, thankyou WV. |
Burma
Ah Wingate's private army . With the hindsight we now have, many historians reckon the Chindits were a reflection of Wingate's giant ego. Wingate would contact Winnie and get anything he wanted. Hundreds of Allied soldiers died of disease in the jungle for what result.

Book
This book:
Out of the Blue: A pilot with the Chindits O'Brien, Terence The author, an Australian, was Wingate's Air Liason officer - he writes with a scathing tone regarding Wingate's behaviour. I think the book is available as a e book download. |
