War Assets

I always though this was run on the basis of public auctions of government surplus. Never knew they ran a wholesale and Mail Order operation as well.
This tag was just found in a box of NOS 19-Set equipment. David |
My guess is that War Assets was a trade name for King Sol Surplus which was either at that address or next door. Into the 1990's they still had a stash of #19 set stuff left over from all the radios they had sold. I haven't been to downtown Toronto recently to see if King Sol is still there.

King Sol
Wow, Brian! There's a name from the past I had forgotten!
I think I bought a number of accessory Enfield bits from them years back. Canvas things maybe? David |
I bought my kid a bike at Dukes Cycle on Queen a few years back, a couple of doors down from where Sol's used to be, it's long gone.

War Assets
hoping not to muddy the waters....
in Post WW2 the New Zealand Government formed 'The WARB. War Assets Rehabilitation Board'. Their objective was to ensure not too much surplus kit was released too quickly onto the civvie market as they wanted to stimulate the economy. They wanted folks to buy new tractors, trucks etc etc... Brent. NZ |
