Dash mounted rifle, M38A1 CDN
Wondering what the most likely model of rifle would have been mounted on the dash of a M38A1CDN.
|
If you are talking about the clip on the right side of the dash, with the rubber socket on the floor, then it was the FN C1A1. They were part of a modification kit that also included the bracket for the SMG C1, which was a Canadian version of the sterling.
The M38A1s left the service in 1986. The following year the FN C1A1 also started leaving the service, replaced by the C7, which was a Cdn version of the M16. As such, the C7 was not foun din the M38A1, although it would fit in the same brackets just fine. |
Rifles and M38A1s
So you know, an FNC1 inside a Jeep is a monstrousity. The rifle stands upright in the middle of the door, with the magazine blocking even more.
The 9mm SMG is wonderfully compact and handy. Old muscle memory still has a few favourite resting spots for the SMG, that don't include the weapons' clips. |
Yes. The rubber socket on the floor is what I was referring to. Thank you for the response. Much appreciated.
